Caught in the act.

"When will you be home?", concerned voice pops out of phone. "I will be waiting for you for the dinner". Shobha knows the reply which would soon going to strike her hearing cords, but wished that to be different today, "you have your dinner please, I am going to be pretty late".

The life of Mr. and Mrs. Khanna has been following the similar pattern for past 3 years. Rahul, the male protagonist, used to leave home early and stay late in the office. They are married for past 5 years, love marriage, and they do form a lovely couple. The handsome and well built Rahul is perfect symphony to slightly gangly, but attractive Shobha. All was rosy in the first few months, but things have changes as of late. Rahul was promoted, Khanna's got a new house and a brand new car, with huge monthly EMI's to boot. Long hours in office are mandated to fulfill the comfortable lifestyle. Material things are piled up in house and love, feeling crowded and suffocated, had taken a flight out of Khanna household. Now its more a matter of sharing house rather than sharing life.

And although Shobha was used to Rahul's coming late to home, today she is expecting something different. Today is their 5th marriage anniversary. When Shobha woke up in the morning Rahul was already gone. Disappointed, she came out to the drawing room and her mood was immediately brightened by the bouquet of beautiful flowers which greeted her. So he remembered, quips Shobha, and that made her forget the bitterness and unfulfilled life of previous few months. Finally sunshine moment, a silver lining in the dark dark clouds hovering over the life of Khanna's.

But alas, it proved to be false dawn again. Here is Shobha, back to square one and back to the boring routine of waiting for Rahul to come home. Shobha now know that she has plenty of time to kill before Rahul would be home. She got engrossed in her normal routine, the one which has become a norm of her life now for past couple of years.

But Shobha is in for a surprise today. Rahul has decided to give her birthday surprise by coming home early and shower her with gifts. After all Shobha is the love of his life and all the late hours spent in office are worth the effort for one smile on lips of her. He furtively skipped past the gate and come inside, taking utmost care not to make any kind of sound. The lights are off and his heart skips a beat. Where is Shobha that late and why she is not at home. Mind begin fearing for the worst. He come upto the door, it was locked from inside. He can hear the giggle and dimly lit light in their bedroom. Secretly he opened the door with his key. Shobha is inside the bedroom with somebody giggling and chatting. Rahul feared for the worst, constant argument which they had for not giving each other sufficient time and not being understanding enough begin to play in front of his eyes. How could she do it, I love her so much, can't she see, I have done all this for her happiness, to provide her with the comforts she rightly deserves. With each passing moment anger is brewing inside Rahul. He walked towards the bedroom door menacingly.

He opened the door with a bang and here she is. Lying on bed is Shobha, and in her tight embrace Rahul can see his bete noire. They are so close together, embraced in each other, ignorant to the world around her. Shobha and Rahul's bete noire is so engrossed in the act that they fail to notice Rahul standing at the door, his eyes full of anger and staring at Shobha menacingly. But Shobha is in world of her own, away from the longings and endless wait. She is enjoying the moment, cuddling and embracing and kissing. Her face has a blissful look about that. The look of a Shakespearean lover who happens to meet his long lost love.

Grunt of Rahul break the spell. Shobha is bewildered seeing Rahul standing at the door. She is caught red handed in the act. Her eyes are pleading for forgiveness. Rahul having none of it, walks upto Shobha, his voice full of anger. "Why for GOD sake, why this shobha, What have I not purchased for you, your cupboard is full of expensive clothes", muttered Rahul with anger,"I need this thing for the match at weekend, why is it that you always have to wear my Man U sweatshirt for snugging and cuddling Shobha?".
